Monday -

Project judging for gardening, rockets, cake decorating, cookies, sewing, etc. There was an awards ceremony and then the kids got to launch their rockets and eat some cookies The 4-H kids and the home school kids were busy this summer and did some good work.

Tuesday -

Today was the day of horse events, too bad it was rainy and windy all morning! The horses and the kids struggled a bit more than usual, but the day ended up much better than it started.

Wednesday -

My work for this day was helping with the dog show. There were 12 dogs and their owners. We got through the first two and then it rained on us. We ran for shelter of the 4-h building just in time! There was not only rain down pouring on us, there was a bit of hail as well. When that stopped we were able to continue this event. The dogs and the kids have work to do next year, but I think they all learned a lot about teaching their dogs obedience and showing off what they learn.

Thursday -

The swine show turned out great and was a big event. There were 66 entries. The youngest kid being eight years old (4-H) and the oldest in high school (FFA). At the end of the day they let the younger kids show a pig for practice. Fun was had by all!

We had to get a photo of each entrant with their entry - not all the pigs were interested in this photo op!

The beef entries were checked in and weighed. But, during the beef show I was on building watch for the 4-H building and it's entries. It gave me time to visit with people browsing the fair and explain what the kids had been doing, give directions and answer questions.

Friday -

Today I got to be in the 4-H building all day. Again, time to keep track of all the entries, visit with people browsing the fair and explain what the kids had been doing, give directions and answer questions. Then, the market sale where the kids show their animals (one at a time), and bids/sale of the animal entries.

Monday (Aug. 14)

This was clean-up the 4-H building day. All of the entries and etc. were loaded up and taken back to the 4-H office.
